        THE AVALON POKEDEX

Mosimian -Lv. 14-> Gorleaf  -Lv. 32-> Sentorest:  the Grass Starter Line, based off apes and the cryptid BigFoot, following both the unofficial pattern of all the Grass Starters being loosely based off ancient creatures (dinosaurs, early mammals, ect.), and this region’s theme of Myths and Legends.

Cachyro -Lv. 14-> Felirmor -Lv. 32-> Mantirex:, the Fire Starter Line, based off tigers and the Manticore, following both the unofficial pattern of all the Fire Starters loosely fitting into the Chinese Zodiac (Charmander line= Dragon, Torchic line = Rooster, ect.) as well as the region theme of Myths and Legends.

Hydroat -Lv. 14-> Capraqua -Lv. 32-> Caprocean: the Water Starter Line, based on goats, merpeople (half mammal + half fish (seen in the vertical tail fins)), and the Zodiac Capricorn, following the unofficial trend of all the Water Starters being based on marine animals (fish half, at least), and the Region Theme of Myths and Legends.

Psychick -Lv. 13 (day)-> Psyfowl -Lv. 28 (day)-> Psyplume: The region's Bird Pokemon, based of peacocks, although this line doesn’t have the gender differences that peacocks have. Their feathers can be found as held items that boost the power of special moves.

Spidark -Lv. 13 (night)-> Spidoom -Lv. 28 (night)-> Spidread: The region's Bug Pokemon, based on haunted skulls and spiders, mostly because the author was sick of butterflies and wanted to make a bug that could stand up to the bird. They hang in the air with nigh-invisible thread, hence why they look to be floating.

Shrubig -Lv. 11-> Bushybara: The Reginal rodents, based on a guinea pig and a capybara respectively, and follow the recent trend of the rodent evolution taking a secondary type (Bibaral with Water and Diggersby with Ground (tho Gumshoos breaks that trend…)), the capybara becomes part Grass type.
While everything else in this dex has some cool backstory/ base of origin, these guys where made due to a high demand for a Rodent pokemon, and their creation is mostly my own, as well as being based in part of my sister’s guinea pigs, Monte Carlo and Oreo. Also, big thanks to said sister for helping me when I was stuck. You're awsome sis!!

Zaptor -Lv. 38-> Sornabolt: First of the regions Fossil Duo. Based on raptors, specifically on the ones seen in the Jurassic Park franchise.

Pyrosail -Lv. 38-> Pyrolith: The second of the Fossil Duo. Based on the Spinosaurus, again, specifically the one in the Jurassic Park franchise. Tyrantrum vs Pyrolith anyone?

Gaurdgoyle -Lv. w/ Max friendship (night)-> Ghoulgoyle: Based on ‘living’ gargoyles. They are the only ghost type you WANT in your house, as they are natural protectors and will protect their homes, usually mountains or high buildings, to the death. The Bankers encourage them to live in their buildings for this reason.

Levitis -Lv. 37-> Tempetis: Based on tiger sharks, as well an old design Mr Chaos came up with quite a while ago.

Orcut -Lv. 37-> Orcrash Based on orcas, or killer whales as they are also known.

Delphin -Lv. 37-> Unicofin: Based on bottlenose dolphins, narwhals and common dolphins. They are (currently) the only evolution line with gender differences in this dex.

Yamashou, Based on a porcupine, but doesn’t actually have spines, just tufts of hair that can secrete poison.

Budhabe -Lv. 17-> Budhem -Lv. 31-> Budhubu: The Bi-Regional Psychics (such as the Abra/Ralts/Gothita lines). They are based on Buddhist monks, with each stage gaining more enlightenment and psychic power.

Toxeon, a Poison type Eeveelution. Based off of poisonous creatures, predominantly scorpions. Evolves from Eevee when it levels up in a city and has max friendship.

Paleon, a Rock type Eeveelution. Based on saber tooth cats, armadillos and some dinosaurs, such as stegosaurus. Basically, a prehistoric version of Eevee. Evolves from Eevee when it levels up in a cave and has max friendship.

Babush -Lv. 20-> Shrublitz -Lv. w/ Leaf Blade-> Grassassin: Based on a patch of grass (similar to Foongus and Pokeballs) and Ezio from Assassins Creed. …What? We already have a Kratos from God of War reference in Zangoose.

Boltimp -Trade-> Gearilla: Based off gorillas, apes in general,  screws, bolts and gears. The spike on Gearilla’s head is meant to be a reference to Gorilla Grodd from DC comics, as he was one of the inspirations for the design, but the only exposure I've had to the character is the Batman Brave and the Bold series, where he wears a Roman-esqe helmet, hence that random detail.

Pupcicle -Lv. 35-> Starctic -Lv. 49-> Fenifrost: The Region’s Pseudo Legendaries, following Tyranitar and Metagross’s steps in not being Dragon types, but rather the perfect Dragon Slayers. Based of wolves, from cub to adult to the legendary Fenrir from Norse Mythology, who is sometimes depicted with devil-like horns.

Porygon M, an alternate evolution of Porygon2, unlike Porygon Z, it is not corrupted by dodgy software. It evolved due to the careful programming and software updates by one Remus Lupin, and it is the replacement of the Marauder’s Map, now Marauder’s App, in the story.

Plaugor: A Ghost type evolution of Spritzee. Achieved through the use of a Dark Stone. Based on a plague doctor, this fakemon is actually something I made while waiting for an exam to end a few years ago, originally a stand-alone pokemon but then Gen 6 happened and I got my hopes up for Spritzee (like Aromatisse is fine, but really?), and recently Mr. Chaos asked me if I had an any ideas for Pokemon to fill this region, and with England's history with the Black Plague it made sense to suggest it.

Avalon Hoothoot-Lv. 20->Avalon Noctowl: A form change of the Noctowl line based on snowy owls. And while regular Hoothoots are more common in the region, white ones can be found on snowy mountains but still remain Normal/Flying, however in the last 100 years there was a large influx of Fighting types in a small area of mountain these particular Hoothoots and Noctowls inhabit, which threw off the natural balance and they had to adapt to the new predetors, hence the Ghost typing and it’s immunity to Fighting Type moves.

Obviously to replace Harry's owl Hedwig in the crossover series. Was originally a regular Hoothoot that had Albinoism, but with the introduction of Alola Forms, Mr Chaos has taken the dive to make Avalon Forms and give it a new type.

Avalon Bonsly-Rare Soil->Avalon Sudowoodo: A form change of the Sudowoodo line, based on willow trees, and is the replacement for the Whomping Willow in the story these are derived from. This form change occurred after the development of a culture where Sudowoodos decorated themselves with willow branches for better camouflage, which lead to using the branches as bargaining chips in fights. Naturally the bigger Sudowoodo’s had the advantage, and much like real life peacocks, the ones with more decoration got more mates, which slowly made the Sudos bigger as the generations went on. And with the influx of fighting between them, Sudos slowly gained the Fighting type as well. Despite this, Sudowoodos are often found living in clans.

Avalon Bonsly aren’t much different from those in other regions, they’re just bigger and in more of a constant state of confusion than anything else, as they have a weird thing on their head that their beloved guardian gave them. Once given a willow branch, they will not let anyone touch it, even though they don’t know why it’s on their head in the first place. Evolves when given an Avalon exclusive item called 'Rare Soil', a rare type of soil only Sudowoodo clan elders seem to know where to find

For continuity sake, Whomper (the Whomping Willow replacement in the story) is technically a runt and unable to beat any of his fellow Sudowoodos, so he eventually lost all his willow branches and cast out of his clan. For those who are curious, Avalon Sudowoodos grow to an average height of 6m (meters). Whomper is about 5m, and the tallest ever recorded was 9m.
For those who don’t know metric, please Google it.

Avalon Houndour-Lv. 24->Avalon Houndoom: Like Hoothoot, regular Houndooms can be found in many lighter forested areas of the region, but on the mountains, is where this form can be found. The reason of this change is mainly because of another Pokémon in the ‘dex, Ghoulgoyle, as they also inhabit many of the same mountains as these Houndooms, along with many other Rock Type Pokémon. With the conflicting Rock and Fire types, Houndoom numbers on the mountains started dwindling, so they were forced to adapt. They adopted the Ghost Typing in response to the Ghoulgoyles that liked to hunt them, keeping the Dark Type to help resist their Ghost attacks so they don’t have the same super-effective problem. This form is said to be an ‘omen of death’ and is often villiansed when paired with Ghoulgoyle, a symbol of protection in reference to their rivalry.

In the story, Sirius has a Houndor he caught in Avalon, but it’s confirmed that it’s part Fire type, hence why both forms can be found in the one region.

Avalon Ponyta-Lv. 40->Avalon Rapidash: Due to the lack of wide open plains in Avalon, the Rapidash population mostly lives in dense forests, as far away from any Rock or Water Pokemon as they can manage. However, the drawback is that they couldn’t use their main form of attack without accidentally burning down their home, so they adapted to suppress their fire. Though due to the large amount of Dark Types inhabiting the dense forests, they continued adapting to deal with the new threats by becoming Fairy Type. Due to living so far in the forests, only a few people have ever seen them, so for a lot of people they are just myths or mistaken for Shinies. Because of this, to ever see one is a sign of good luck as well as, jokingly, a sign that you need to see a doctor.

Based of Unicorns, which, while they are a part of the Harry potter lore, are not the replacements of Unicorns in the story, that role goes to Togekiss. However, since Avalon is the region of myth and magic, why not take two recent features of the Pokemon franchise (Fairy Type and Alola Forms) and put them on the classics horse Pokemon, that already has a horn?

(and for those who know that HP unicorns are gold and silver, not blue and are going to complain, what do you think the Shinies might be?)

MissingNo: “A mysterious Pokémon rumoured to appear around certain shorelines in the Kanto/Johto area and messes with appliances. Appears as a mess of pixels, a rotting body or a white hand to those using the Silph Scope.”

Based on the urban legend, Mothman, the classic RBGY glitch MissingNO, and the idea that Team Rocket would have tried to clone other things besides Mew. Mainly Celebi, as well as various Dark and Fairy types. Included in the Avalon Pokedex as it is a plot device in the story this whole thing is based on

----------------

A bit of backstory needed, I think. So, there's this really awsome series of fanfics over on Fanfiction.Net called the 'Harry Potter: Pokémon Master Series' by the amazing Mr. Chaos, which, as the name suggests, is a Harry Potter/Pokémon Crossover.

Now, I've seen crossovers where Harry goes to the Pokémon world, or Pokémon come to the Harry Potter world, but this series decides to take the two worlds and combine them together, quite seamlessly, I might add.  Although I’ve been invested in this series for a while, so I’m probably biased and you should take my words with a grain of salt, but still. Good stuff.
The main stories are set in the Pokemon region Avalon, (hence the title of the ‘Dex), where the main professor is Dumbledore, though what he’s meant to be studying for the sake of Pokémon, like evolution or Moves, I’m not really sure about, as well as all the important families from the Harry Potter series, such as the Weasleys and the Blacks, along with various important standalone characters like Madam Longbottom and Crouch Sr. being other Gym leaders and Elite 4 members, all of which is also tied into the lore of these stories.

The stories do follow the canon Harry Potter books to a certain extent in terms of Plot, as in you can recognise the HP elements within all the Pokémon amazingness, but there are some twists and turns, and some plot twists that make your mind do a complete 180, then when you think you know what’s going to happen from there on out, it dose it again!

There have been 5 main stories and a little side series posted so far as I'm writing/uploading/updating this, and in the 3rd instalment, Harry Potter and the Lord of Sevii, Mr. Chaos began giving descriptions of the Fakemon that would inhabit the region of Avalon (he's only used canon Pokemon in his stories (Edit: until the 6th chapter of the 4th story, where the fossil Pokémon from this Dex where mentioned!), and I began to sketch them out on random bits of paper. My friends saw these and suggested/ pushed me to send them in because they thought they were amazing. However, I don't have a scanner, so I couldn't upload the hand-drawn versions, so I did the next best thing I could think of. I sprited them.

And now we are here! I’m now technically the ‘official’ artist for this series, even though I’d probably still be doing this even if Mr Chaos himself didn’t go ‘wow this is cool, you can do this all the time if you want!’ I’m paraphrasing that, but yeah. That’s a thing.

More to come as the chapters update! If you like these, please go check out the series and it's amazing author!
